Medical Degree – BMBS, BM, MBChB.
These are all equivalent medical degrees. All doctors study at university for 5 or 6 years to obtain a medical degree, the exact name of this depends on the university.

Additional Science degrees – BmedSci.
This is a university degree awarded after 1-3 years of further study.

Postgraduate Qualifications – DRCOG, DFFP, DRSH, CME.
Diplomas awarded for studies in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Family Planning, sexual Health and Medical Education respectively.

Membership of Royal College of General Practice – MRCGP/nMRCP.
MRCGP is awarded for passing the membership exam of the Royal College of General Practitioners, and is the qualification allowing a doctor to practice as a GP.

MSc Sports medicine.
This is a postgraduate Masters Science degree in Sport Medicine.

Nursing Team

The Doctors work as a team with other colleagues including Practice Nurses and Healthcare assistants, who see patients by appointment particularly for the following reasons:

  • Nursing procedures e.g. dressings, removal of stitches, ear syringing etc.
  • Immunisations – both routine childhood immunisations and travel vaccinations
  • Cervical smears
  • New patient, well woman and well person health checks

Practice Team

Practice Manager

Takes responsibility for the day to day running of the practice overseeing the team in providing an efficient service to its patients.

Practice Secretary

Responsible for dealing with all clinical correspondence generated by the practice including referrals and letters to patients and other providers.

Receptionists

Deal with telephone enquiries, make appointments and file and retrieve medical records.

Medicines Manager/Reception Manager

Responsible for liaising with GPs on a daily basis to deal with all medication queries including requests for acute and repeat medications requiring a review and hospital discharge summaries and medication changes.

Additional Staff

  • District Nurses
  • Community Psychiatric Nurses and Social Workers
